To sell medicines on JD Health in Hong Kong, sellers must hold a Hong Kong pharmaceutical licence and the relevant import and export licences. Under the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance (Cap. 138), additional licences are required for prescription medicines or controlled medicines. For non-prescription medicines, sellers must ensure that the medicines are registered in Hong Kong or meet the applicable listing requirements. Rengangyongsheng recommends that sellers identify the appropriate licence category based on the types of medicines they intend to sell and confirm the compliance requirements with the platform, to ensure that their sales activities are lawful and compliant.

📘 Regulatory basis

Section 18 of the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance (Cap.138); Department of Health rules for registered medicines

📗 Drew Tang's recommendations

Obtain the appropriate drug licence according to the category of medicine to avoid penalties for selling unregistered medicines

📕 Risk notice

Selling without a pharmaceutical licence or selling unregistered medicines may result in administrative penalties and the products being removed from platforms.
